Because it's my day off today, I did some cleaning - yes you read that correctly, I cleaned today.
I did the dishes, and suddenly it appeared to me that there are so many differences that even after one week of being here, are already considered normal. Although for you guys they must seem unusual. There are a lot of basic differences everyone knows or can read about on the internet, but like in every culture, the old ways do not apply, or at least not as much, on the younger generation (if I'm still allowed to call myself that).
So here's a little difference that is cultural typical for the Finns but not so typical for Belgians.
Once upon a time there was a woman who was doing the dishes because she was supposed to do it, but she decided that her time was precious and she wanted to spend it on more important things than just doing the dishes..
However, living in that time, she had to make sure the dishes were done otherwise her husband would be mad.. ugh men!
So she made an invention, because she was smart..and a woman.. And we all know women can do anything.
She literally made a place in the cupboard where she could store the wet dishes so she could do something useful while they were drying... Normally I'd say; 'Please could someone just give this woman an award' - But in this case, she already received one. Halleluja!! Now you can find her invention in almost every Finnish kitchen!!
Moi-moi!!
